It feels bizarre that this needs repeating.
But it does need repeating.
Nonduality is just a philosophy. It tries to put words to elements of experience that are probably beyond words. It offers a way of understanding self and reality.
By logical extrapolation it also offers a navigation system for living (not a rule book). Which points us to a better experience of life.
ANYTHING else is not nonduality.
Nonduality is simple. In my many theories of all things, nonduality doesn’t even fill the first page of a massive tome.
But it isn’t always easy. We, as humans, acquire “stuff”. We acquire ideas about self, reality and life that get in the way of the simplicity. Most of those ideas aren’t even ours. And some of them take a lot of gentle unwinding from the truth of ourselves.
Which is where a myriad of specialist coaches, teachers, healers, therapists, guides and mentors come in. (And, this is why Helen & I have been quietly developing a map to help people navigate that confusing landscape.)
And don’t trust anyone who tells you that isn’t nondual enough.
TL;DR:
Enlightenment (the unwinding) used to be a prequisite for awakening. Now it usually follows. And it should follow. Because awakening isn’t a full stop, it’s an ellipsis…
